Established in 2004 at Green Barns, the land is rented from local landowner David Robinson for use by the community.
We have full and half plots available. They are let through a tenancy agreement, renewed annually, which sets out the conditions for the use of the plots and the conduct expected of plot holders to maintain the area, for example by removing weeds to prevent them seeding onto the plots of others and also mowing the grassy paths to keep them clear for everyone’s convenience.
This is a community facility for which all plot holders are responsible. Therefore, general maintenance of the site and more major jobs, such as turning the compost heap and painting the sheds, are carried out by the plot holders jointly by forming working parties. Of course, plot holders’ ability to undertake more strenuous tasks is fully taken into account!
