About Us
leobury Gardeners is a group of gardening enthusiasts who first came together in 2002 with the aim to promote an interest and understanding in gardening, growing, and learning from others’ experiences.
Members range from novice to experienced – we welcome everybody and would love you to join us.
We meet at various times during the year, with various visits and tutoring sessions in local gardens and talks, usually on Monday evenings at Cleobury Country Centre.
What we do:
We host a wide range of speakers on gardening topics, as well as taking part in active practical sessions where we learn new techniques, such as how to divide hostas and take different types of cuttings
In the summer months we go out on garden visits, making full use of our Royal Horticulture Society affiliation to get cheaper entrance to their gardens
We hold social events, particularly in the summer, such as socials and allotment barbeques
Community projects we’re involved in:
We also have a number of projects on the go! We raise money, mainly through plant sales, for group activities and to support some of our key projects, which are mainly:
Holding an annual competition for local nurseries, primary schools called ‘Learning to Grow Food’. Local nurseries, primary schools in the area and an all-age school for those in need of educational support take part
Managing the allotment site in Cleobury Mortimer, where we have full and half plots so you can be sure to find one to suit you, or you can share one with another member
Helping to manage the pleached lime trees in the centre of the town that were planted to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Our members actually got them into their pleached shape some 20 years ago and have helped look after them ever since!
Supporting local non-profit organisation Nineveh Ridge Care Farm to help develop a productive garden as part of their work with clients with special needs.
